Spread Eagle Position

The spreadeagle position is a bondage position in which the female subject has her arms outstretched and her legs apart, figuratively resembling an eagle with wings spread.

In a spreadeagle position, the model lies with her arms and legs stretch out in an X shape. The model is usually tied to a flat surface such as a bed or table, or may be tied to a door frame standing upright. A spreadeagle position typically involves a model's wrists and ankles tied to the four corner-posts of a bed.

Use in Bondage

The spreadeagle position is fairly popular in the adult industry, partly because of its relative simplicity, and also because of the effect on the victim. The main advantage of a spreadeagle tie is that it leaves the tied model completely helpless, with her arms and legs stretched out. This exposes most of her body, allowing the dominant to whip, grope, or sexually stimulate her with little interference.

Usually the model being tied is stripped completely naked, as to fully utilize her helpless condition. The spreadeagle tie will usually affect the subject psychologically as well as physically, being completely nude with her arms and legs spread apart enhances her sense of vulnerability, emphasizing her inability to cover herself.

Variations

There are a number of forms in which a spreadeagle tie may appear. While typically involving the model's wrists and ankles tied to table or bed corners, much more stringent and restrictive ties appear.

More restrictive spreadeagle ties involve additional straps around the arms, legs, and torso of the model. In some cases, up to three straps can be used on each arm, around both her forearm and bicep. Similarly with the victim's legs, several straps may be secured around her thighs and in some cases even her feet. Additional straps above and below the breasts and around the waist prevent the model from arching her back or moving her torso. In such a circumstance, the model is totally immobile with her legs spread apart, and unable to shift or squirm in any effective way. The complete helplessness of this position allows the dominant partner complete freedom with the victim, able to whip or tickle any of her exposed body. This enhanced spreadeagle is particularly effective for forced orgasms and orgasm torture, where the model must endure the torture with absolutely no method of escape. Even squirming away from the vibrator is impossible is such a bondage position.
