Pornstarnetwork
After logging into PornStarNetwork.com, you see two dozen thumbnails organized on the network home page. They're grouped into currently-featured videos, most recent videos, most popular pornstars, and featured pictures.
If it's a user's first login, two messages welcome the user – information about yearly memberships, and a survey, requesting feedback about site features. The message center is clean and simple. It feels a bit like using Facebook's messaging feature, but with even less visual clutter to confuse the user.
Overall, the site has twelve main sections. Among these are the expected sections: the aforementioned portal-style homepage, sections for videos, pictures, pornstar-specific browsing, a section for browsing by production studio, and a section for DVDs.
In PornstarNetwork.com proper, when looking at any given list of media, users see a list with the length of the media, average user rating, number of views, and date shown in a thumbnail layout. For most of these media list layouts, it also shows the number of users who “Like” or “Favorite” it. The “Favorite” feature seems to get much more use, or the “Like” feature may be newer.
The “Sites” section refers to the network aspect of Pornstar Network. As the network's library of available porn media grows and gets reviewed and organized, new niches, or new portrayals on niches, get rolled out as new sites. In short, this gives users an optional, extra way to find media – filtering based on nuance.
The “Live” link is for live shows, usually shot from home-based studios – the 21st century web cam girls. A calendar shows the number of live shows scheduled for a date; clicking the date leads to thumbnails of those shows, and the start time for each.
Pornstar Network has a review site run via a third-party service, Review-Network.com. According to its front page, there are at least 3,000 reviews of adult media at this site, and new reviews are added daily. Each review has both a free-form written review, and a list of specific comparison points such as media types, media sizes and resolutions, price options, DRM technology info, whether the site streams video, the average length of videos, the number of videos at date of review, and so forth.
The Dating section is also run off-site, by SexInYourCity.com. It correctly detected where this writer lived, but made no indication of considering a referred user to be logged-in, or a member. Performing a search leads users to a sign-up page, with a “teaser” thumbnail saying if you want to read about this possible local match, you just need a free account.
The main Pornstar Network Store links to MallCom, an interesting platform that treats the shopping experience to a desktop app sort of feel. A left tool-pane provides quick access to main nav, including streamlined search tools and links to different broad-topic product home pages. A trim horizontal bar has quick-jump menus for porn genres, sex toy manufacturers, and porn studios. In short, the multitude of features given to the user at this link, manages to present itself coherently. Contrasted to the Message Center, the Store is very busy-looking, but it's not confusing.
Finally, a Twitter section link pops open a window to the PornstarNetwork updates on Twitter.com.
