Spanking
Erotic spanking is the act of spanking another person for the sexual gratification of either or both parties. Activities range from occasional sexual roleplay (such as ageplay) to domestic discipline and may involve the use of a hand or the use of a variety of spanking implements, such as a spanking paddle or cane.
Practice
Implements A spanking may be carried out with the use of a bare hand, or with a spanking implement such as a paddle, strap, hairbrush or belt. Other implements can be used, such as a cane, riding crop, whip, switch (rod), birch, gloves, sneakers, slippers, roller-up newspapers, plastic bottles (the action is called bottling), rulers (even a yardstick) or martinet. The most common type of erotic spanking is administered on the bare buttocks, but can also be combined with bondage, in order to heighten sexual arousal and feelings of helplessness.
Costume Many costumes can be warn during a spanking for the person/s being spanked. These can include, underwear, bikini, schoolgirl uniform, maid uniform, sports uniform, pyjamas and complete nude.
Positions
Positions which may be used to administer a spanking include:
over the knees (OTK) or across the lap stooped over a chair or couch, or bench on hands and knees (bed or floor) on shoulder of spanker kneeling on a bed or ottoman, stooped over with hands on the floor bent under the arm of the spanker lying face down on a bed bent over, touching toes or over a desk lying on back with legs raised upward and toward chest handcuffed to a bed tied to a doorway tied to a tree or pole that is in a safe area outside legs spread apart, almost in the splits position
Corner time
Corner time is when the person/s who received a spanking may be ordered to either stand or kneel in the corner of the room by the spanker. They have to keep their hands on their heads or behind them. In some spankings the person/s who had just been ordered to do corner time may get told not to rub/feel their buttocks. If they do they may recive an additional spanking. The amount of time all together spent in the corner is up to the spanker.
Folkloristic spanking traditions
In Latvia there is a tradition of spanking on Palm Sunday morning. The spanker sneaks into the potential spankee's bedroom and wakes him or her up. The whipping is done with pussy willow branches or (rarely) birch. This ritual spanking is often applied to the bare buttocks. Sometimes spanking is done in early morning with aspen tree birch, while people are sleeping naked or in nightgown.
On Easter Monday, there is a Slavic tradition of hitting girls and young ladies with woven willow switches (Czech: pomlázka; Slovak: korbáč) and dousing them with water.
History
Representations of erotic spanking and flagellation make up a large portion of Victorian pornography,. Hundreds of thousands of engravings, photographs, and/or literary depictions of spanking and flagellation fantasies circulated during the Victorian era.
