Tequila Jade was active before Tyra Banxx stirred up the "pornstar that looks like a celebrity" controversy. But it could be argued that Tequila Jade bears a more accurate resemblance to the real supermodel turned talk show host/actress/businesswoman. Tequila Jade was a very petite cutie, which very small all around curves, as was the one that sought attention by co-opting the Tyra name. Tequila Jade usually filled out a cast of performers instead of starring in her own vehicles.
Tequila Jade was one of the many unsung performers that populated the landscape as the 90s ended. Ethnic themed erotica started to expand as pretty women of color started to flood into the industry. Unfortunately the majority of Tequila Jade's scenes were in the lower budgeted arena - shot in the ugly bed spread motels or in someone's apartment with standard lightbulbs as lighting. These films never received much credit for raising the visibility of Black women as sex superstar's worthy of mainstream attention. Tequila Jade's highest profile appearances were in the very popular Sista series ( Volume 10) and in the Devils Film series "WhiteBoy Stomp" Vol. 5.
